A recipe for a laugh

Today I'm going to tell you the story of how I started laughing more in my life. I've told this story at least 1000 times, but it's so important to me that I feel like I tell it too often.

I often say that most of the things I have learnt for my life I have learnt in the theatre, and this is no exception. I also learned how to laugh more there.

The story starts when I was 3 years old and I went to the theatre. I was more sad then and I kind of liked it. But I saw myself in one of the 2 mentors. Yeah it sounds horrible and it was. She is very much like me. I have talked about her in the past, on the blog. I mean, when I saw my future in her I was scared, like I saw a ghost. In my mind I said to myself; "I really don't want to be like that when I grow up". Gosh, I shuddered. I was so aware that I could make a difference. I didn't know what, but I knew that something wasn't right and that continuing to have that attitude to life was going nowhere or was leading to what she (the mentor she was at the time) was.

Of course, I did not solve this problem in the same year. But I thought about how to solve it and where to find a way to solve it. Then came my last year in the theatre, when I got a very happy mentor. It was immediately clear to me that this was the solution. I was crazy to find a solution. I told her a few years later and she was honoured.

The conclusion is that there is no recipe that will guarantee that you will laugh more. Each person can find it for themselves. I did, because I saw my own future, which opened my eyes, and then I was able to change it in time. Sometimes it really takes time to find a recipe that works for us. But it certainly helps to watch a series that makes you smile. Maybe a series you've never heard of or one that has made you laugh in the past.

I know a lot of funny English series that a lot of people have never heard of, let alone watched. So I have no doubt that you won't find one that you haven't seen before. I haven't discovered them all myself.
