How do you find a hobby you like?
Today I'm going to talk about how to find a hobby you really like.
I'm sure you've heard the classic question, "What are your hobbies?"
And if you've shrugged your shoulders a little, let me be the first to tell you: there's nothing wrong with you.
Sometimes it just happens that we get lost in the day-to-day and forget what really fills us as a soul.
Why have a hobby at all?
A hobby is not just a leisure activity.
It is an opportunity to connect with yourself, to give yourself space to explore, play, be creative and simply be happy.
When you do something for the pure love of it - with no pressure on the outcome - magic happens:
You start to feel more inner peace,
your day becomes more colourful,
and other commitments suddenly feel lighter because you are full of energy.
How to start your search?
1. Remember your childhood.
What did you like to do when you were still carefree?
Drawing, writing stories, exploring nature, making legos?
The child in you still knows what brings you genuine joy.
2. Explore without expectations.
Don't worry about whether you're good at something or whether you'll "make it".
It's important to enjoy the activity, even if your first crochet scarf isn't the straightest or your first pictures aren't for the gallery.
3. Try different things.
Sometimes you only find the right thing when you try several things.
Sign up for a course, take a creative workshop, try a new sporting activity, start gardening on your balcony...
You don't know what will grow on you until you give it a chance.
4. Listen to your feelings.
If something makes you feel curious, excited or at peace - you're on the right track.
If something bores or exhausts you, then turn away boldly. There's nothing wrong with that.
5. Don't look for perfection, look for the sparkle.
Your hobby is your space to be who you are.
You don't have to be the best at it. What matters is that your heart leaps when you do it.
Maybe this exercise will help you too:
Close your eyes for a few minutes and imagine a perfect day.
What are you doing that day?
Who are you with?
What are you doing just for yourself?
The answers that come out of this visualisation can be a great clue for your new hobby.
