Today I’m not going to talk about cleaning the apartment or dusting the cobwebs in the corners of the room. I’m going to talk about something much more important—spring cleaning for the mind. When this time of year comes around, everyone goes crazy scrubbing windows, but I think it’s far more urgent to clear out all the clutter that has accumulated in our heads over the winter.
For me, enlightenment isn’t some lofty philosophy, but the moment when you admit to yourself which thoughts no longer serve you. We all carry within us old patterns, fears, and the opinions of others that have become ingrained in us like stubborn grime. How many times this year have you told yourself that you can’t do something? How many times have you let others’ criticisms ruin your day? Well, now is the time to simply sweep all of that away.
My mental cleansing begins with honesty toward myself. I stop lying to myself that everything is fine when something is suffocating me. If certain relationships are draining me—out with them. If certain projects no longer bring me joy—away with them. This isn’t selfishness; it’s mental hygiene. Once you clear all that noise from your head, you can truly hear your intuition. And when your mind is clear, you start seeing things as they are, not as you fear them to be.
I don’t like overcomplicating things. For me, enlightenment is daring to be who you are, without those “filters” society imposes on us. When you clear your mind, you realize you don’t actually need validation from anyone else. If my way of thinking seems strange or too direct to you, you know where the door is. I need space for my own truth, not for other people’s junk.
So here’s my advice: take some time and look at everything you’re carrying around in your head. Which thoughts are yours, and which have been instilled in you by others? Once you’ve cast off everything that weighs you down, you’ll feel an incredible lightness. Don’t wait for things to change “on their own.” You’re the one holding the broom.
Make room for new ideas, for new energy, and for the true version of yourself that has been hidden for too long under a layer of old dust. It’s time to breathe deeply.
Hugs, Eva
