Today, a new part of the story "Riches."
8. SETTING THE APPOINTMENT
“Alright, we’ll talk later then. I’ll call you back sometime around lunch,” says Lejla. “Agreed, Lejla. Take care and say hi to Filip for me.” “Thanks, I will.” “Sounds good.” “Bye.” “Bye.”
I hung up and turned off the phone. “Well, now we’ll wait for Lejla to call back. Shall we slowly start making lunch?” “Sure. What should we make?” “Since it’s Sunday, we could make some soup from a packet, and something else to go with it.” “We could make some chicken and potatoes.” “That works. Oh, I just remembered, we have fries in the freezer. And the chicken breasts are in the fridge,” Mom says. “That’s perfect.” “Good.” “Now we can go prepare lunch.” “Yes.”
We went to the kitchen and started preparing lunch. I took the fries out of the freezer and placed them on the counter next to the sink, and I took the chicken fillet out of the fridge. Mom started preparing the packet soup. She poured water into the pot, and once it boils, she’ll pour the soup mix in.
“I’ve become quite hungry,” I tell Mom. “I believe you. Me too.” “I’m really curious when Lejla will call.” “I know. You can set the table.” “Yes.”
I took two deep plates and two shallow plates out of the cupboard. I left all four on the counter. Mom took the first deep plate and poured the soup into it. In the meantime, I took the cutlery and two placemats to the table. First, I laid out the mats, and on them, I placed the forks, spoons, and knives. By that time, Mom had already brought the first plate of soup. “This one is for you,” she says to me. “Thank you.”
I sat at the table and waited for Mom to join me with her meal. “Bon appétit,” I wish her. “Thank you, same to you,” she thanks me.
After lunch, we went to lie down in the living room and turned on the TV. During that time, Lejla called and told us about the vacation appointment.
