Living Alone Part 10 - Time for You

Today, a new chapter in the story of loneliness.

SUNDAY 10

A new morning and my first morning in my new apartment.

Today is Sunday.

Today is the first morning I’ve woken up in my new apartment.

Today was also my first night there, and for a change, I slept really well.

I checked my phone to see what time it was. It said exactly nine o’clock.

“Great,” I said to myself with satisfaction.

First, I got up and stretched.

I went to the bathroom and changed into my sweatpants.

I went out into the hallway to look for toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a hairbrush.

Good thing I went to the store yesterday so I could buy these things, because I don’t know how I’d have handled not daring to brush my teeth or comb my hair. And I bought some food, too. It’s a good thing I managed to get that cooler bag so I could buy meat and other things that need to be in the fridge.

I took a yogurt out of the cooler bag and some cereal out of the bag.

I went to the dining room and sat down at the table. I opened the bag of cereal and poured a little into the yogurt. I grabbed a spoon and started eating.

“Today, I’d better go home and pack up what I have left.

And I’ll tidy up my room nicely so my dear mom won’t think I don’t know how to clean up,” I said to myself.

I went into my room and grabbed the bag where I’d stored my blanket and pillow. I put them in the bag and placed the bag in the hallway outside the door, so I wouldn’t forget to take them later.

At ten o’clock, I went down to the garage to get my car and took a bag with me containing a comb and a blanket. I also took a suitcase with me, just in case I needed to put something else inside.

I went home, walked into the apartment politely, and said hello.

“Are you here again?” my mom asks sharply.

“Yeah, I’m here again. I came to get the rest of my things that I

didn’t dare take with me yesterday.”

“Fine.”

“Okay,” I agree.

“You can go into your room and clear it out,” my mom gives me permission.

“Thank you,” I say, and head upstairs.
