Today’s new chapter: Wealth.
9. APPROVED VACATION
“I talked to Dad and told him about the dates.
And we came to the conclusion that the best time would be
for us to go together from July 14 to July 28,” says Lejla.
“Okay. I’d better go book it now,” Mom replies.
“Okay. I’ll come over to your place when Dad goes on his business trip.”
“Yeah, yeah. We’ll figure it all out,” I say.
“It’s settled.”
Lejla and I hung up, and Mom and I kept watching TV.
Our favorite Slovenian series is *Usodno vino*.
Of course, Lejla loves it too.
And whenever we’re together, we always watch it together.
“What are we having for dinner?” Mom asks me.
“I don’t know. I’m still a little full from lunch.
I’ll cut up some fruit,” I reply.
“Okay.”
“Yeah. We could make a fruit salad for vacation,” I suggest.
“Not a bad idea.”
“Yeah.”
“Now I’d better go book our vacation dates.”
“Yeah, go ahead. So we don’t forget.”
“Okay.”
I went into the kitchen, stood at the counter, and grabbed some fruit
to cut up.
I took a banana, an apple, and a kiwi.
“Is that the selection of fruit you picked?”
“Yeah. We have the most of those left,” I replied.
“Yeah. What kind of fruit do you buy for a fruit bowl?”
“I don’t know. Maybe bananas, strawberries, kiwis, pineapple, grapes.
And some other fruit, too.”
“Okay.”
“Did you book your vacation?”
“Yes, I did. Now I’d better give Amanda a call.”
“Yeah. And tell them about our vacation, too.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll tell her.”
“Deal.”
I sat down at the counter and started eating the sliced fruit.
Mom picked up the phone and called Amanda.
“Hi, Amanda. How are you?”
“Hi, Sonja. I’m fine. How about you?”
“I’m fine, too.”
“How’s Lina?”
“She’s doing great. Lejla and I just made plans for vacation.”
“Oh, that’s nice.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m calling to ask you about that.
Are you guys coming to visit us this summer?”
Hugs, Eva
