In my School of Life, I’ve learned that not everyone who enters your life is there to bring you light. Some people come simply to suck out the last drop of positive energy you have left. We call these people energy vampires, and they are often our closest family, colleagues, or even people we call friends. You can recognize them easily because their presence leaves no physical marks, but it leaves devastating consequences on your well-being. These are the people with whom you have a seemingly normal cup of coffee, but once you get home, you feel so drained, exhausted, and empty, as if you’d spent the whole day doing the heaviest physical labor on earth.
Energy vampires act out of their own emptiness and dissatisfaction, so they are constantly looking for someone who has strong, bright, and pure energy to feed on. You can identify them by the fact that their conversations always revolve around drama, constant complaining about the system, the country, or other people, while they never take responsibility for their own lives. They play the victim, and when you try to offer a solution or advise them with all your empathy, they don't even hear your suggestions. They aren't looking for a solution—they’re just looking for a trash can where they can dump their negativity. Even worse, such people don't know how to celebrate your success; instead, they will always try to subtly diminish your achievements, your progress, or your blog with remarks that sow doubt and fear within you.
When you start building your self-confidence and learn to listen to your intuition, you will sense these energy vampires the moment they step into the room. Your body will warn you with a knot in your stomach or a sudden drop in your mood. That is why it is crucial to switch on your inner fire without any guilt and set clear boundaries. Protecting yourself from them isn't about arguing; it's about simply closing off access to your intimacy and shortening the time you spend in their company. Sometimes the best solution is for these toxic friendships to fade away and end, because you are obligated to protect your energy for the real people who amplify your light instead of extinguishing it.
